As Fast as a Downhill Skier

March has arrived, and we’re still riding the buzz from seeing our New Zealand athletes put on such an awesome showing at the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics — an event where Aotearoa sent its biggest Winter Games team yet and came home with a solid medal haul.  Now we get to shift that excitement toward the upcoming Winter Paralympics, where our Para athletes are gearing up to hit the snow and continue the momentum.

Selections

Selections

With the Commonwealth and Youth Olympic Games happening this year as well as the LA Olympics looming ever closer Athlete SELECTION and selection policies will be on a lot of athletes’ minds.

We’re continuing to work closely with NZOC and HPSNZ to help make selection processes easier to understand and more transparent for all athletes.

Over the past year, we’ve gathered feedback from you, our Athlete Leaders — through last year’s Forum, this year’s discussions, and the recent survey — to shape a draft document that covers key information around selection, selection policies and wellbeing.

We’ve asked you to tell us not only what information athletes need but also the formats that work best for them, so this resource truly reflects athlete voice.

As NZOC and HPSNZ prepare to roll out a series of selection and wellbeing guidance workshops for targeted sports next week, now’s the perfect time to have a read of the draft and share any final thoughts. Please send through your feedback by 5pm, Monday 9 March, so we can ensure athletes your voices are heard before NSO workshops get underway. Let’s make this document as clear, useful, and athlete‑driven as possible.
